Boston College men's soccer senior co-captains Guy Melamed and Pat Haggerty and freshman Charlie Davies were named to the NSCAA/adidas All-New England first team on Thursday. The Eagles' three selections to the team were the most of any school.
Melamed, the 2004 Big East Midfielder of the Year, makes the first team for the third consecutive season. He was named to the third team his freshman year. Melamed is one of 15 semifinalists for the Missouri Athletic Club's prestigious Hermann Trophy and was recently selected to participate in Major League Soccer's combine at the beginning of January.
Haggerty was the lynchpin of the Eagle defense this season, anchoring a unit that allowed just 10 goals on the season. Haggerty was named to the All-Big East first team and was also BC's second-leading scorer with five goals.
Davies was named the 2004 Big East Freshman of the Year for his performance this season. The Eagles leading scorer tallied nine goals and four assists in his initial campaign. He notched five game-winning scores for Boston College.
The Eagles advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated by defending champion Indiana, 1-0.
