Boston College cross country runner Maria Cicero placed 15th in the 6k race at the NCAA Championships held on Monday at Indiana State University. Cicero finished the 6k race with a time of 20:48.1. The top 30 finishers in the race earn the All-American honor.
This fall is the third season that Cicero has been named All-American. The senior runner has one year of athletic eligibility remaining as she red-shirted her junior year due to injury. Therefore, Cicero will have a chance to gain her fourth All-American accolade in four years next fall season.
Since 1996, only two other Eagles have earned All-American status in cross country more than once (Angie Graham and Maggie Guiney).
Cicero never slipped out of the top ten in any race this season. At the Iona Meet of Champions, she placed second overall. The Murray Keating Invitational saw Cicero finish in the third slot. She finished the National Invitational and the BIG EAST Championships in eighth and ninth, respectively.
