Hockey Signs Four During Early-Signing Period

Four standouts - forwards Brock Bradford and Benn Ferreiro and defensemen Tim Filangieri and Brett Motherwell - have signed national letters of intent to play hockey at Boston College, according to an announcement by Boston College head coach Jerry York. All four players will enroll at BC in September 2005 and begin play during the 2005-06 season.
Bradford (Burnaby, British Columbia) is currently playing with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Last winter, he played for the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League, registering 85 points - 36 goals and 49 assists - in 57 regular-season games. The 5-foot-10-inch forward has 24 points - nine goals and 15 assists - in 18 games with the Lancers this season. In the past 12 months, he has twice represented his country in international competition. Bradford teamed with current BC freshman Dan Bertram to help Team Pacific gain the silver medal in the 2004 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Newfoundland (Canada), and together they helped Team Canada earn the gold medal at the 2004 Under-18 Junior World Cup in Slovakia.
Ferreiro (Essex, Mass.) is currently playing at Governor Dummer Academy, where he earned All-Independent School League honors in 2003-04. The 5-foot-11-inch forward led the league in scoring last winter, recording 35 points - 18 goals and 17 assists - in 25 games. This past summer, Ferreiro was a member of the U.S. Under-18 Select Team that competed at the 2004 Under-18 Junior World Cup in Slovakia.
Filangieri (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) is currently playing for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL. The 6-foot-2-inch defenseman played in 47 games for the Black Hawks in 2003-04, tallying seven points - one goal and six assists - while finishing with a plus-18 rating. So far this season, Filangieri has registered four assists in 15 games.
Motherwell (St. Charles, Ill.) joins Bradford on the 2004-05 Omaha Lancers. The 5-foot-11-inch defenseman is in his second season with the USHL team. Last winter, he registered 27 points - six goals and 21 assists - in 38 games. Included among his totals were four power-play goals and one game-winning goal. He has 10 assists in 18 games this season. Motherwell was a member of the U.S. Under-17 Select Team that captured the gold medal at the 2002 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic.
