Women's Golf Places Ninth At Mid Pines

Elizabeth Friel's 21st place finish led the Eagles to a ninth place overall finish at the Ross Resorts Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C. The event, hosted by Rollins College, was played at Mid Pines, a par 72, 6, 042-yard course. BC's 1,003 stroke total tally in three rounds was good for ninth overall.
Friel was BC's top finisher. She shot rounds of 78, 79 and 85 for a 242 overall. Finishing nine strokes behind Friel was freshman Courtney Tincher. Tincher shot two rounds at 82 and a final round of 87 to place her 39th overall.
Fellow freshman Katie Napleton finished 46th overall. Her rounds of 86, 87 and 84 gave her a stroke total of 256 for the invitational.
Seniors Moira O'Connell and Tiffany Wernig round-out the participating Eagles in the tournament. O'Connell (49th) shot an 85 and a 93, but came back strong in the last round to shoot a +7, 79. Wernig shot an 83, a 93 and a 90 in the final round to give her a stroke total of 266, good for 54th.
The Ross Resorts Invitational was the final tournament for the women's golf team this fall season. The squad returns to action on March 14 in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational held in Orlando, Florida.
