The BC Women's Sailing Team ended the fall season with an impressive 4th place finish at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championships; sailed at the College of Charleston. Maura Wintson '06/Leland McManus '06 & Kristen Goodby '07 finished 6th in A division, while Julie Wilson `05/Jen Doyle '05 came 3rd in B division. Their combined effort was good enough for 4th overall - the best Women's Atlantic Coast Championship for Boston College in five years.
The highlight of the Women's Team season came three weeks ago, with an Intersectional victory at the Stu Nelson Trophy at Connecticut College. The Women's Team ends the season ranked 4th nationally.
Meanwhile, at MIT, the Coed team finished 7th overall at the Coed Atlantic Coast Championships. The Eagles struggled in A division throughout the regatta. Skippers Jeff Bonanni `05 and Frank Ustach `05 along with crew Joy MacDougall `05 had trouble with the shifty breeze on the Charles River.
In B division, Ben Gent `05/Caitlin Gill '05 sailed an impressive regatta, finishing 3rd in B division. Despite some difficulties late in the regatta, the Eagles rallied in the last four races, averaging 3rd place and moving from tenth to seventh overall. The Coed Team finishes the season ranked 8th in the country.
Fall of 2004 was one of the best in Eagle Sailing history - and BC posted one of the best fall records in the country. BC won 16 regattas this fall, including five intersectionals. The team was nationally ranked all fall and ranked as high as No. 2 in Coed, No. 4 in Women's.
