CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The 18th-ranked Boston College women's basketball team started the 2004-05 campaign with a convincing 80-48 exhibition victory over Team Concept, Inc. Wednesday night at Silvio O. Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
All 12 players saw action as the Eagles took an early 13-4 lead and never relinquished it. All but one Eagle scored in the win, with three players posting double digit totals. The Eagles stormed out of the gates early, winning the tip and streaking to the basket for an easy Droesch lay-up and a 2-0 lead to open the game. Boston College upped its lead to 21-7 with four points from Queenan and back-to-back buckets by Marshall. The Eagles outscored Team Concept 12-4 in the paint and collected 15 points off turnovers to take a 37-20 lead at the intermission.
In the second half, Boston College continued its scoring way. Posting 43 points in the last 20 minutes, the Eagles scored 22 points in the paint. A balanced scoring attack saw post players Kathrin Ress (Salorno, Italy), Lisa Macchia (Levittown, N.Y.), and Queenan score six, five, and 16 points respectively. Ress and Queenan led the team in rebounding with seven apiece. Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) added seven points and four boards.
