For the second time this season, men's soccer co-captain Pat Haggerty was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week.
Haggerty was instrumental in both Boston College shutouts last week, as the Eagles defeated cross-town rival Northeastern, 1-0, on Wednesday, and played ACC foe North Carolina State to a scoreless tie on Saturday night.
The senior back assisted on freshman Satoshi Mitsuda's game-winning tally in the 99th minute of the victory at Northeastern. Haggerty's first assist of the year gave the Eagles their first overtime victory of the season.
On Saturday, Haggerty turned in another class performance as he led the BC defense to its 10th shutout of 2004. The senior marked NC State's Aaron King, and held the Wolfpack's leading scorer to just one shot in regulation.
Haggerty has a career-high five goals this season and is BC's second-leading scorer. His defensive unit has allowed just seven goals in 16 games.
Haggerty and fellow co-captain Guy Melamed will be honored before the Eagles' final regular-season home game on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 when they host Dartmouth. BC will host a BIG EAST quarterfinal match on Sunday at 1 p.m.
