XC Runs At Mayor's Cup

Last weekend, Boston College Cross Country runners ran in the Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park. The race featured many club runners and a handful of collegiate runners. BC entered most of their middle distance runners and their JV runners.
To start, Boston College XC assistant coach John Mortimer finished second in Men's 8k race. Mortimer runs for the Boston Athletic Association and ran a 24:03 in the race, 10 seconds off of the leading runner.
Results for the overall 5k race featured BC runners boasting impressive finishes. Dan LaFave (16:34), John Kennedy (16:9) and Dan MacIsaac (16:44) finished in the third, fourth and fifth slots, respectively.
That race also saw Brenton Wheatley and Christopher Scully finished seventh and ninth.
The women's squad ran in the Women's 5k race and had four finishers in the top 51 racers. Anne Hessberg ran a 19:11, good for 42nd place overall. Next came Kathleen Smyth and Cara Valeri, finishing with times of 19:21 and 19:25, respectively. Smyth came in 45th and Valeri finished just behind her in 46th. Rounding out the women's squad was Mary Heitcamp whose 19:37 landed her in 51st place.
Red-shirt junior Kristen Coon ran unattached to BC. She finished at 18:10 and finished in 23rd place.
In the Men's 8k, BC ran two freshmen: Frank Divittorio and Jeff Klatsky. Divittorio ran a 26:44, a minute improvement off of his time at the New England Championships. Klatsky ran a 28:12 in the race.
