Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Wayne State 4-3

The Boston College women's ice hockey team dropped its second game of the season in a rematch against Wayne State (2-2-0) today at Kelley Rink. Freshman Sarah Feldman scored two goals for the Eagles in the 4-3 loss.
BC came out strong in the opening period by jumping on the board first. Sarah Carlson connected at 6:30 into the period for her first goal of the season. Cristin Stuart and Lindsay Wright earned their first assists of the year. Later in the period Wayne State tied the score up at one, on a power-play goal by Kelly Zamora.
The Eagles recorded three penalties in the first period, including a tripping call with 37 seconds left in the first period on Nancy Gillis. Warrior Jessica Haydahl was able to score the power-play goal to open the second. Wayne State added another score later in the period on a Naomi Kupferstein goal.
BC answered Wayne State 43 seconds later when Deborah Spillane fed Sarah Feldman a beauty from behind the net to bring the Eagles within one. In the third period Monk scored at 6:28 into the period for the Warriors to give them a 4-2 lead.
The Eagles would respond nine seconds later on another goal by Feldman. Spillane fed Feldman and she connected into the top left corner of the net. Feldman earned her third goal of the season.
BC had power-play opportunities late in the third period but was unable to find the back of the net. The Eagles went zero for six on the power-play.
Down the stretch in the third period Alison Quandt came up big for the Eagles. The junior stopped 15 shots in the final period and 26 on the day.
BC (0-2-0) will look to capture its first win of the season on Saturday, October 23 on the road against Quinnipiac at 5 p.m.
