The 2003-04 preseason USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll was released today and the Boston College Eagles are the third-ranked team in the nation. The Eagles are one of four Hockey East teams in the top 15 as they are joined in the poll by New Hampshire (4), Boston University (7) and Maine (13). Defending national champion Minnesota (1) and Michigan (2) are the only teams ranked above BC. The Eagles received three first-place votes.
Depending on the outcomes of their regular season tournaments, the Eagles could play as many as 18 of their 36 regular season games against teams in the top 15. They could also face up to eight different ranked opponents in the regular season.
Boston College opens their season this Saturday, October 4 at Vermont at 3:00 p.m. The Eagles will see their first ranked opponent in #15 Minnesota-Duluth on October 10 at the Ice Breaker in East Lansing, Michigan. The first home game will be Friday, October 24 against Notre Dame. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
