Volleyball Opens Season In Western New York Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y.- Volleyball tallied its first win and first defeat on Friday, opening against Canisius College and Cleveland State at the Western New York Tournament.
BC opened against Canisius College (0-1) and finished in four games. Freshman Allison Anderson (Moraga, CA) came out strong for the Eagles with 20 kills. Dorota Niemczewska (Vernon Hills, IL) had four service aces to help shut down the Golden Griffins. Junior captain Verena Rost (Houston, TX) played in all four games, recording 56 assists.
The Eagles were not as successful in the second match against Cleveland State (2-0). BC was only able to capture the second game and was defeated in four. Niemczewska lead the team with 20 kills. Anderson played a strong role on defense with 12 digs.
BC will play two matches on Saturday against Buffalo and Niagra, and will finish the WNY Tournament Sunday against Buffalo.
