Aug. 14, 2003
The Boston College men's basketball team's 2003-04 non-conference schedule features 14 games, including a season-opening three-game trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and two dates with Atlantic Coast Conference teams.
In addition, the Eagles will host early-December contests against traditional rivals Holy Cross and Massachusetts. BC will also meet Atlantic 10 foes Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure and Mid-American Conference power Kent State in rematches of last season's games.
BC opens the regular season on Saturday, November 22 against Appalachian State in the first round of the 2003 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The Eagles will face Monmouth in their second game of the tournament (Nov. 23), before concluding with a third game on Nov. 24. The third opponent will be LaSalle, Hampton or Wichita State.
When the Eagles return home, six of their eight games before the end of the calendar year are home contests. Boston University (Nov. 29), Holy Cross (Dec. 2) and Massachusetts (Dec. 6) visit Conte Forum, before BC travels to Philadelphia for a Dec. 9 game against Saint Joseph's in the city's famed Palestra.
Sacred Heart (Dec. 14), Kent State (Dec. 20) and Stony Brook (Dec. 23) come to Chestnut Hill to round out the team's pre-Christmas slate. The Eagles venture to Clemson (S.C.) on December 30. The game will mark the first game between BC and Clemson since December 1976.
Boston College opens the New Year with a Jan. 3 home game against St. Bonaventure and later rounds out its non-conference schedule with a Jan. 20 contest against North Carolina State. ESPN2 will televise the game from Conte Forum.
Boston College's 16-game BIG EAST schedule, which was announced in late June, is highlighted by two contests each with Providence, St. John's and Seton Hall. In addition to its home-and-home series with the Friars, Red Storm and Pirates, the 2003-04 Eagles will host Connecticut, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Villanova and Virginia Tech. BC will play road games at Georgetown, Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia. Dates and times of all conference games will be released at a later date.
