Men's Basketball Learns BIG EAST Schedule

June 24, 2003
Boston College will play Providence, St. John's and Seton Hall twice as part of its 16-game BIG EAST schedule during the 2003-04 season.
The 14 conference schools will play under a new league format this season. Each team will play every other team at least once and will play three teams twice. The BIG EAST is abandoning its two seven-team divisional format of the past three seasons. Under that format, each team played two games against each of its six divisional rivals and one game against four (of the seven) teams from the other division.
In addition to its home-and-home series with the Friars, Red Storm and Pirates, the 2003-04 Eagles will host Connecticut, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Villanova and Virginia Tech. BC will play road games at Georgetown, Miami, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and West Virginia.
Dates and times of all conference games will be released at a later date.
Boston College returns seven lettermen and four starters from last season's 19-12 team.

Notes: Boston College's game at Georgetown will mark the Eagles' first trip to Washington, D.C. since dropping a 57-54 decision to the Hoyas on Feb. 17, 1999 ... BC will get its first look at Pittsburgh's Petersen Events Center, which opened last season. The Eagles last played in the Steel City -- in Fitzgerald Field House -- on Jan. 10, 1999 ... BC will play Seton Hall twice during the regular season for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.
