Jennifer Donovan Places Ninth At NCAA Championships

Boston College junior Jennifer Donovan ran a school record 10:04.52 in the 3000-meter steeplechase to earn a ninth-place finish at the 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. Donovan finished fifth among Americans in the event and earned All-America honors.
Donovan's time in the Friday-night race shattered her own school record by just more than two seconds. Her previous career best was 10:06.64, which she established at the 2003 NCAA East Regional Meet at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
The Melville, N.Y., resident recorded a time of 10:14.32 in the preliminary heat at the NCAA Championships. Earlier this year, she earned BC's female Scholar-Athlete Award for the junior class.
