Men's Basketball Honors Announced

Senior Troy Bell, who finished his career as Boston College's all-time leading scorer, earned team MVP honors and captured the Frank Power Memorial Award, highlighting the program's annual Cage Club Banquet. The event was held at the Newton Marriott on Sunday, May 4.
Bell earned All-America honors this past winter after averaging 25.2 points per game. He earned BIG EAST Player of the Year honors for the second time in the last three years. The Minneapolis, Minn., product was the 2002-03 BIG EAST scoring champion, averaging 27.8 points per game in 16 league contests.
The Frank Power Memorial Award is given annually to the player who best demonstrates the dedication, spirit, loyalty and love for Boston College and its basketball program that was characteristic of the Eagles' former coach.
In addition to Bell, six other players were recognized at the banquet. Junior Ryan Sidney earned Defensive MVP honors, while sophomore Nate Doornekamp and freshman Louis Hinnant shared the Coaches' Award. Freshman Craig Smith took home the Top Rebounder Award, while sophomore Jermaine Watson captured the Sixth Man accolade.
Senior Adam DeMong earned the team's Academic Award for the second consecutive year, while senior Patrick Heffernan won the Mary Kay Waldron Managers' Award.
Boston College finished the 2002-03 season with a 19-12 record, including a 10-6 mark in BIG EAST action. The Eagles shared the BIG EAST East Division regular-season title (with Connecticut) and earned a berth in the National Invitation Tournament. BC has participated in a postseason tournament in each of the last three seasons.
