Regan Named Verizon Academic All-District

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior Christina Regan (Needham, Mass.) was named to the District I Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Verizon Academic All-District First Team, as announced today, Thursday, May 29.
Regan, a tri-captain this past year, scored and set school records in two events at the 2003 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, coming in fourth in the heptathlon (4,609 points) and seventh in the high jump (5-7 ?). In the indoor conference meet, she took sixth in the pentathlon with a score of 3,255.
Recently, Regan won her second New England heptathlon championship. She also took home the crown in 2001. This past winter she captured first place in the pentathlon at the New England Indoor Championships.
A communications major, Regan has received the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement four times and been named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star on three occasions.
This weekend Regan will compete in the high jump at the inaugural NCAA East Regional Track and Field Championships, held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
To qualify for Verizon Academic All-District program, a student athlete must be at least a sophomore in class, a starter or significant reserve and have compiled a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA. District I includes student athletes from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Regan and the other 10 first-team selections will be placed on the Verizon Academic All-America ballot. The national squad will be named June 19.
