CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The women's tennis team breezed past St. John's on Sunday, April 7 at the Flynn Recreation Complex, beating the Red Storm, 7-0.
The Eagles (9-7, 5-2 BIG EAST) won all six singles matches in straight sets and routed the Red Storm in all three doubles matches, winning by scores of 8-2, 8-2 and 8-1.
Freshman Szilvia Szegedi (Dumakeszi, Hungary) beat Nataliya Kostova at No.1, 6-1, 6-4. Junior Allison Ashley (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) pulled out a 7-6 (6) first-set win over Kryistina Bothova before dominating the second set, 6-0.
Sophomores Morgan Landes (Huron, Ohio) and Amy Molden (El Cajon, Calif.) crushed their opponents at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. Landes beat Vera Efstathiou, 6-0, 6-1, while Molden blanked Tessa Woodruff, 6-0, 6-0.
Junior Emily Hellberg (Spring Lake, Mich.) and sophomore Emily Yeomans (Lafayette, Calif.) both won the first set of their respective matches, 6-3, before their opponents retired.
Boston College hosts Massachusetts on Wednesday, April 9 at 2 p.m.
