CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The women's tennis team dispatched Massachusetts, 7-0, on Wednesday, April 9 at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
The Eagles (10-7) won all six singles matches - dropping only one set in the process - and swept all three doubles matches.
Juniors Nida Waseem (Karachi, Pakistan) and Allison Ashley (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) each won their singles matches, at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, and teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Szilvia Szegedi (Dumakeszi, Hungary) downed Jafra Depontes, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Playing with senior Anisha Fernando (Lake Oswego, Ore.), she also was victorious at No. 2 doubles, 8-5.
Sophomores Morgan Landes (Huron, Ohio) and Amy Molden (El Cajon, Calif.) won in straight sets at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, while junior Emily Hellberg (Spring Lake, Mich.) dropped the first set of her match at No. 6 singles before rallying for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory.
At No. 3 doubles, senior Jessica Engel (Wellesley, Mass.) and sophomore Emily Yeomans (Lafayette, Calif.) gutted out a 9-7 win.
Boston College next plays at Boston University at noon on Saturday, April 12.
