WARREN, N.J. - After a 2-1/2 hour delay and change of venue, the men's tennis team came up short Sunday, April 6 as it lost to Rutgers, 4-3, at the Warren Tennis Club.
The match was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. on the outdoor courts, but it did not get underway until 12:30 p.m. and was moved indoors because of the cold weather.
The Eagles (7-8, 2-1 BIG EAST) and Scarlet Knights split the six doubles matches, with the Knights claiming the doubles point.
Juniors Brad Anderson (Edina, Minn.) and Justin Slattery (Hampton, N.H.) were victorious in their singles matches - at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively - and teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles as well. Anderson beat Greg Schweitzer, 6-3, 7-6 (4), while Slattery took down Kevin Bielen, 6-3, 6-1.
The duo took care of Schweitzer and Brook Deming in doubles, 8-1.
Sophomore Jonathan Ounjian (Delray Beach, Fla.) picked up BC's only other win on the day. He triumphed over Gordie Milchutsky, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4.
