
Men's Tennis Eeks Outs Big Conference Win Over UConn

STORRS, Conn. - The men's tennis team improved its BIG EAST record to 3-1 and evened its overall record at 8-8 with a 4-3 win over Connecticut on Thursday, April 11 at the UConn Tennis Courts.
The Eagles claimed victories at Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 6 singles.
Juniors Justin Slattery (Hampton, N.H.) and Brad Anderson (Edina, Minn.) won their singles matches - at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively - and teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles as well. Anderson beat Mike Furman, 6-3, 6-1, while Slattery defeated Joe Lang, 6-0, 6-2.
The duo overwhelmed Furman and Lang in doubles, 8-2. The Huskies, however, won at No. 2 and 3 doubles to capture the doubles point.
Sophomore Jonathan Ounjian (Delray Beach, Fla.) breezed past Matt Stinson at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Junior Paul Colahan (Beverly, Mass.) rounded out the Eagle winners on the day, taking a three-setter from Mike Louis at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
The team concludes its regular season schedule this weekend with a pair of home matches. It hosts St. John's at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 11 and Villanova at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 12.
