Men's Tennis Goes 2-0 Over Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The men's tennis team concluded the regular season last weekend with a pair of BIG EAST wins as it defeated St. John's, 4-1, on Saturday, April 12 and Villanova, 6-1, on Sunday April 13 at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Against the Red Storm, the Eagles (10-8, 5-1 BIG EAST) won at No. 1, 2 and 3 singles and swept all three doubles matches to claim the victory.
Junior Brad Anderson (Edina, Minn.) pulled out a 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 win at No.1, junior Justin Slattery (Hampton, N.H.) took care of business at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2, and sophomore Chris McCoy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) triumphed at No. 3, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
Anderson and Slattery won their 10th straight doubles match together, beating Arnaud Agniel and Jake Maxwell at No. 1, 8-2. Senior Damon Vartabedian (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and sophomore Bob Murray (Kenner, La.) teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2, while sophomore Jonathan Ounjian (Delray Beach, Fla.) and junior Paul Colahan (Beverly, Mass.) notched an 8-3 victory at No. 3.
Slattery, Anderson, Ounjian, McCoy and Colahan all won their singles matches in straight sets against the Wildcats, while the teams of Slattery and Anderson and Ounjian and Colahan picked up doubles wins.
The team travels to Miami, Fla., April 25-27 for the BIG EAST Championships.
