The Associated Press All-America first-team honorees were David West of Xavier, Nick Collison of Kansas, Josh Howard of Wake Forest, Dwyane Wade of Marquette and T.J. Ford of Texas.
The third team was made up of Brian Cook of Illinois, Reece Gaines of Louisville, Kirk Hinrich of Kansas, Keith Bogans of Kentucky and Ron Slay of Tennessee.
Bell previously earned BIG EAST Player of the Year honors and USBWA District I Player of the Year honors. He won the BIG EAST scoring title, finishing with a 27.8 ppg average in conference contests. His league scoring average set a BIG EAST single-season record, shattering the 27.4 ppg mark set by Seton Hall's Dan Callandrillo in 1981-82. Bell also leads all conference players with a 25.2 ppg average in all games.
Bell led the Eagles to a 19-12 overall record, including a 10-6 mark in conference play. The Eagles earned a share of the East Division regular-season title, the program's second title in three seasons and fifth overall. BC earned a berth in the 2003 National Invitation Tournament.
