Gottstein Named To Kodak All-District Squad

ATLANTA, Ga. - Boston College post player Becky Gottstein (Albany, N.Y.) was named a finalist for the 2003 Division I Women's Basketball Kodak All-America Team. As announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and the Eastman Kodak Company, Gottstein was named one of seven players to the All-District Region 1 squad.
Gottstein finished the season as BC's second-leading scorer with 15.3 points per game and the team's leading rebounder with 8.2 per game. In conference play, she averaged 16.8 ppg and 9.0 rpg. She has led her team to a 22-9 overall record and a No. 25 national ranking. This year's team advanced to the program's first-ever Sweet Sixteen. For her efforts, she was named to the All-BIG EAST first team.
Gottstein finished her career as the school's second-leading rebounder (884) and fifth-leading scorer (1490).
Joining Gottstein on the District 1 team are Jennifer Butler (Massachusetts), Molly Creamer (Bucknell), and fellow BIG EAST players Tamara James (Miami), Trish Juhline (Villanova), Cappie Pondexter (Rutgers), and Diana Taurasi (Connecticut). WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical districts vote for the final team and Player of the Year, which will be announced at the Women's Final Four in Atlanta on April 4, 2003.
Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game in all of its aspects as an amateur sport for women and girls.
Kodak recognizes the accomplishments of young athletes and the positive recognition they bring to their school by displaying their talents on the basketball floor. Kodak has sponsored the Kodak Women's All-America Basketball Team for 29 years.
