Honolulu, Hi. - The Boston College softball team split a pair of games Saturday on the third day of the Malihini Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii Friday evening. The Eagles blanked Buffalo, 3-0, before falling to Baylor, 4-0, in the nightcap. BC currently stands at 6-11 on the season and will play two more games while in Hawaii over spring break.
In the first game, Lisa Fischer (Coopersburg, Pa.) accounted for all three of BC's runs. After a scoreless regulation game, Jen Asbury (Livermore, Calif.) began the eighth on second base. Jacqui Goodchild (West Hills, Calif.) and Kim Hopkin (Dove Canyon, Calif.) reached on back-to-back fielder's choice plays. With two outs, Cara Blumfield (West Hills, Calif.) walked and Fischer belted a three-run homer.
Tekae Malandris (Chula Vista, Calif.) collected the win on the mound for the Eagles.
In game two, Kim Ryan (Bay Shore, N.Y.) took the loss on the mound. She allowed a third-inning homer and two hits in the fifth, including a two-RBI triple. For BC, Goodchild collected both of her team's hits.
BC will play Loyola Marymount (3:00 p.m.) and host Hawaii (5:00 p.m.) Sunday in the final day of the tournament.
