CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Matti Kaltiainen earned HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors for the week ending March 30, according to an announcement made by the league office.
Kaltiainen blanked Ohio State on Friday, stopping all 26 Buckeye shots in a 1-0 victory to send BC to the NCAA East Regional championship game. Kaltiainen's effort marks the only time a Boston College team has shut out an opponent in 57 NCAA Tournament games.
The following day, Kaltiainen made 36 saves in the Eagles' 2-1 double-overtime loss to Cornell in the East Regional Championship.
Kaltiainen's two-game performance earned the him a spot on the NCAA East Regional All-Tournament team.
