Women's Hockey East Association Announces Season Award Winners

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - The Women's Hockey East Association announced its all-star teams of its inaugural season on Friday. The 2002-03 Hockey East All-Star First Team was comprised of players from Providence College and the University of New Hampshire, the teams that finished first and second, respectively, in the regular season.
Senior defenseman Genevieve Richardson represented Boston College, earning Second Team honors. The Monroe, Conn. native anchored the Eagle blue line this season as the squad?s assistant captain. She collected 12 points on four goals and eight assists this year.
Freshman Jill McInnis was named to the 2002-03 ITECH All-Rookie Team. McInnis led all Eagle defensemen with 16 points this year. She tallied a team-leading 15 assists and added one goal for an impressive rookie season.
Senior Sarah Engwall was the runner-up for the league?s sportsmanship award. The Minnetonka, Minn. resident served as the Boston College team captain over the 2002-03 campaign.
