McInnis Garners Hockey East Monthly Honors

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - In a release on Monday afternoon, the Women's Hockey East Association announced its players of the month for January 2003. Boston College freshman defenseman Jill McInnis, of Quincy, Mass., was honored as the ITECH Rookie of the Month.
After sitting out the beginning of the month with an injury, McInnis returned to the ice for the Eagles. She registered at least one assist in four of the past five games, for six in just a two-week span. Her biggest game came against Hockey East rival, Northeastern. The freshman set up three of the Eagles' four goals in the 5-4 overtime loss. McInnis leads the Eagles with 13 assists this year.
McInnis earned the Hockey East Association's award for Defensive Player of the Week last week. She is the second consecutive Boston College player to earn the ITECH Rookie of the Month award. Goaltender Alison Quandt received the award for the month of December.
Boston College will meet Northeastern for the third time this season on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in the Beanpot Tournament at Harvard's Bright Hockey Center. The Eagles and Huskies face off at 5 p.m. Boston College seeks its first-ever win over the Huskies and its first conference victory this season.
