Men's Tennis Falls To Columbia, 5-2

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The men's tennis team lost to Columbia, 5-2, Friday afternoon at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.
The Eagles (2-5) captured the doubles point, courtesy of a pair of wins from the No. 1 team of juniors Brad Anderson (Edina, Minn.) and Justin Slattery (Hampton, N.H.) and the No. 2 pairing of junior Paul Colahan (Beverly, Mass.) and senior Damon Vartabedian (Franklin Lakes, N.J.). Anderson and Slattery beat Yoku Kiuchi and Jimmy Moore, 8-5, while Colahan and Vartabedian topped Ricky Butenko and Scott Robbin, 8-2.
Slattery was the only Eagle to win a singles match as he downed Kiuchi at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2.
The team is back in action Saturday, Feb. 22 when it travels to Syracuse, N.Y., to take on Colgate at 2 p.m.
