Senior guard Troy Bell earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for the week ending Feb. 16, according to an announcement made by the conference office.
Bell earned the award after scoring 67 points in two victories. The senior netted 33 points in the Eagles' 80-69 win at Providence on Feb. 12 and then scored a season-high 34 points in a 76-65 home win over Miami on Feb. 15.
Bell became Boston College's career scoring leader in the game against Providence. Bell broke Dana Barros' record of 2,342 points set from 1985-89. He finished the week with 2,403 points.
In the two games last week, Bell shot 17-for-35 from the field, including 11-for-23 from three-point range. He was 22-for-24 from the foul line.
For Bell, this week's award marks the eighth time in his career that he's been selected as the league's player of the week, more than any other active BIG EAST player.
Bell currently ranks first in the league in scoring, averaging 27.0 points per game in conference contests.
Boston College (13-9, 6-5 BIG EAST) has won five of its last six games. The Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 19 against Virginia Tech. Game time is 7:30 p.m. in BC's Conte Forum. The game will not be televised.
