Eagles Dominate Hokies In 65-47 Win

BOSTON (AP) - Jessalyn Deveny scored eight of her 20 points during a 17-3 run at the start of the second half to lead No. 25 Boston College to a 65-47 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday.
Becky Gottstein had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Eagles (16-6, 8-3 Big East), who limited Virginia Tech to a season-low point total and 35-percent shooting.
Boston College handed Virginia Tech its second loss in the last nine games. Chrystal Starling scored 14 points for Virginia Tech (17-6, 8-4). The Eagle post game, led by Kim Mackie and Becky Gottstein, held the Hokie post game to just eight points. Ieva Kublina was held to a season-low six points on 3-for-10 shooting, well below her 15.4 scoring average.
Boston College built a 32-24 lead by halftime and put the game out reach with its run at the start of the second half. The Hokies were held scoreless for nearly nine minutes and held to just one field goal during BC's run.
Virginia Tech never got closer than 14 points in the last five minutes.
The closest the Hokies came after the key run was 14 points with just over five minutes left.
