Women's Basketball Downs Siena, 65-49

ALBANY, N.Y. - The Boston College women's basketball team opened up its three-game road trip by defeating Siena College, 65-49, Tuesday night at Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y. Sophomore center Lisa Macchia (Levittown, N.Y.) tallied 16 points - 12 in the first half - and shot 8-for-10 from the floor to lead the Eagles.
Boston College improves to 2-0 on the season while Siena falls to 1-1.
The Eagles out scored the Saints 39-18 in the first half of play, going into the break with a comfortable 21-point lead.
Siena would not draw closer than 18 in the second half, until a Trish Lyons three-pointer from half court at the final buzzer.
The Eagles shot an impressive 54.5 percent from the floor, compared to 31.3 percent for the Saints. Juniors Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) and Clare Droesch (Rockaway Beach, NY)also scored in double digits in the Eagles non-conference victory, adding 11 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore Aja Parham (San Antonio, Texas) contributed eight points, grabbed seven boards and handed out four assists.
Boston College will remain on the road for its next two games. The Eagles will spend Thanksgiving in Colorado at the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational hosted by Colorado State. Their first opponent will be SEC foe Alabama. Game time is set for Friday, November 28, at 7 p.m. On the second day of action, the Eagles could face either the host Rams or Long Beach State.
