CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior midfielder Bill Arnault (Clay, N.Y.) was named to the Verizon Academic All-America Second Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today. This announcement comes after he received First Team Academic All-District laurels.
Arnault is the first Boston College men's soccer player to attain Academic All-America Second Team recognition and the second to receive Academic All-America distinction. Casey Schmidt was honored with third team recognition in 2002.
Arnault, a philosophy major in the College of Arts & Sciences, is a three-year starter and captain of the Eagles' squad. He is a two-time recipient of the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement and has twice been named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star. In addition, he received Boston College's Outstanding Male Scholar-Athlete Award as a freshman and sophomore.
Monday's announcement follows the recent news that Arnault was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. After earning third-team honors as a freshman, Arnault received second-team recognition as a sophomore and junior.
