Rutgers Steals Final Match From Volleyball

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Boston College volleyball (17-12, 3-9 BIG EAST) dropped their final match of the 2003 campaign to Rutgers (11-17, 5-7 BIG EAST) down in New Jersey Sunday afternoon.
Allison Anderson put out amazing offensive effort, knocking in 17 kills and one block assist. Her performance on the back court had a major impact on the defense, with 16 digs. Dorota Niemczewzka had 14 kills in the final match of her rookie campaign, contributing to the Eagle's overall offense of 62 kills and an attack of .247. BC lost the advantage on offensive plays with 17 serving errors and 24 attack errors. Rutgers attack of .261 nudged the BC out of a final victory.
Rutgers took the first game in easy fashion, 30-17. The Eagles bounced back but fell shy for game two, 30-28. A major rally from the front of the court put BC on top in game three, 30-20. Alison Shepp had another explosive afternoon with her 13 kills from the outside. The Scarlet Knights grabbed hold of the win in game four, right down at the wire. RU's Shayla Bush led for kills on both teams with 22, and helped the Knights take game four 32-30.
The weekend in New Jersey marks the final competition of the 2003 season for Boston College.
