Men's Soccer Loses To Seton Hall, 3-1

ORANGE, N.J. - The Boston College men's soccer team fell to Seton Hall in its last BIG EAST game of the season, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Owen T. Carroll Field. Junior Pat Haggerty (Lawrenceville, N.J.) tallied the lone goal for the Eagles in the 46th minute.
With the loss, the Eagles are 6-7-3 and finish 3-5-2 in BIG EAST play.
Seton Hall got on the board first when Jerrod Laventure collected a pass in the box and beat senior goalie Mike Cardenas (Framingham, Mass.) in the eighth minute.
Boston College controlled play early on in the second half and found the back of the net when Haggerty scored off a corner kick in the 46th minute. Seniors Paul Chase (Weymouth, Mass.) and Adam Pfeifer (Newton, Mass.) collected assists on the goal.
Matt Salotti scored the game-winner for Seton Hall at 68:50, while the Eagles were playing a man down because of an equipment issue. Junior midfielder Bill Arnault (Clay, N.Y.) was sent off because he did not have proper shin guards, while he was waiting to be waved back on Seton Hall took advantage and scored.
Seton Hall's Dan Pires added a goal in the 84th minute. Pires picked up a rebound in front of the net off a shot.
Cardenas made six saves in net for the Eagles, who were out shot 17-10 in the match. Boston College held the edge in corner kicks taking six while allowing two.
The Eagles will close out the season with a match against Brown, Tuesday, November 11 in Providence, R.I.
