Boston College sophomore forward Patrick Eaves (Faribault, Minn.) was named to the 2004 U.S. National Junior Team, as announced by USA Hockey today. The squad will compete at the 2004 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship from December 26-January 5 in Helsinki and Hameenlinna, Finland. Eaves joins 15 of the nation's top hockey players under 20 years of age on the preliminary roster. The final 22-player roster will be announced December 2.
This is the second consecutive year in which Eaves has been selected to the squad, although last season he did not compete due to injury. Eaves' father, Mike, the head coach at the University of Wisconsin, will be the team's head coach. Patrick's older brother, Ben, a senior on the Boston College squad, competed in the World Junior Championship in 2002.
