Cardenas Awarded BIG EAST Goalkeeper Of The Week

PROVIDENCE - Senior goalie Mike Cardenas (Framingham, Mass.) was awarded BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week recognition as announced by the league on Monday. Cardenas held BC opponents scoreless through 200 minutes of soccer this week. Cardenas posted shutouts over two ranked opponents to help Boston College to a 1-0-1 week. He leads the league in goals against average, save percentage and is tied for the league-lead in shutouts.
This is the second time Cardenas has garnered the award this season.
Boston College sits atop the conference in defensive statistics having given up only nine goals through 14 games this season. This week, the Eagles blanked Ivy League opponent Yale, 2-0 before playing to a 0-0 draw with 13th-ranked Rutgers on Friday night. Cardenas made seven saves on the week.
The Eagles are back in action Friday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to Jamaica, N.Y., to face St. John's
