Maroon Wins In 8-5 Thriller

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Maroon's timely hitting and great pitching from the bullpen were keys to Friday's win over Gold.
Kurt Hayer, Kevin Boggan, Ryan Morgan and Dave Preziosi combined to throw seven scoreless innings. They bailed out starter Ryne Reynoso who gave up five runs on two hits and three walks in the first two innings. Maroon scored four runs off Ted Ratliff in the fourth. Jared MacGuire, Shawn McGill and Preziosi delivered clutch RBI hitting. Maroon added one more in the fifth on a Ryan Morgan sac fly that plated Reynoso who had reached on a single to start the inning. Nate Jeannes was the next victim of the Maroon offense. He gave up three runs on five hits. The scoring was highlighted by Aaron Campini's triple, and an rbi single by Jeff Schomaker.
Kevin Shepard started for Gold and went three scoreless, and allowed only two hits. Nick Asselin was sharp, shutting down the hot maroon bats. Asselin threw 1.2 innnings without allowing a hit. Marco Albano proved that the experiment is over - HE CAN PITCH! He was dominant as he threw a scoreless ninth, striking out two. Offensively the GOld had two doubles and two RBI's from Jason Delaney. Josh DiScipio had an RBI double.
The Sonny Nictakis Series CO-MVP were second baseman Aaron Campini and two-way weapon Dave Preziosi.
"It could not be anymore fitting to have these two guys be the co-mvp of the Sonny Series. Both of these guys, more than anyone in our program, exemplify who Sonny was and how he lived. Like Sonny, Aaron and Dave are the true BC baseball players. They are as serious in the classroom as they are on the field. They always carry themselves with class and treat others with respect. They never embarass Boston College on or off the field. It is evident in their daily approach that it is a privilege to be part of our program and such a great school."
