Men's Basketball Beats Up On Virginia Tech, 95-71

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Boston College jumped to a 22-point first-half lead behind the scoring of Troy Bell, then coasted to a 95-71 win Wednesday night over Virginia Tech.
Bell, who finished with 27, scored 10 points in the first half and led a balanced Boston College (9-8, 2-4 Big East) scoring attack that shot 65.5 percent from the field. Craig Smith helped BC keep the lead, scoring 19 of his 25 points in the second half.
The Eagles had their biggest lead late in the game, 92-56.
The Hokies (8-10, 1-4) went cold at the 14:09 mark, scoring only four points over the next eight minutes as the Eagles went up by 19. Tech shot 30 percent in the first half.
Carlos Dixon led Virginia Tech with 21 points and Bryant Matthews scored 14. Tech outrebounded BC 30-26.
