CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior Ben Eaves earned HOCKEY EAST Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 12, according to an announcement made by the league office. Eaves becomes the first Eagle to garner the player of the week nod in the 2002-03 season.
Eaves started the weekend against UMass Lowell with four points - one goal and three assists - in a 6-3 win on Friday night. The next night, in a 7-1 BC win, Eaves matched that output with one goal and three assists.
Eaves' four-point game on Friday vaulted him past the 100-point barrier. In only 80 games, Eaves has 106 points, good for a 51st place tie on BC's all-time point scoring list.
As of January 13, the junior captain has 28 points - nine goals and 19 assists. He leads the team in points, and is tied for the team lead in assists. He also ranks second in points in conference games with 20 - six goals and 14 assists.
Boston College returns to action Thursday, Jan. 16, when it travels down Commonwealth Ave. to face rival Boston University. The game, scheduled for 7 p.m., will be televised live on Fox Sports New England.
