Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey team collected its third win in as many tries with a 3-0 victory over Quinnipiac Friday night in a non-conference match-up at Alumni Stadium on the campus of Boston College. With the win, Boston College improves to 3-0 overall and earned its second shutout of the season. The Bobcats fall to 0-3.
The hosts scored all three goals on penalty corner plays, the first coming at 4:15 into the game. Lauren Schultz (New Milford, Conn.) connected on a direct corner pushed out by Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario) and stick-stopped by Kerri Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.). Doherty then picked up her second assist when Virginia Drozd (Richmond, Va.) scored BC's second goal at 29:01.
In the second half, Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.) redirected a Christy Zider (Barre, Vt.) shot on a penalty corner play for the game's third and final goal.
The Eagles will host cross-town rival Boston University in a 7 p.m. tilt on Wednesday, September 11. They will then travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge. During the weekend, they will face Michigan and Northwestern.
