Syracuse, N.Y. - The 17th-ranked Boston College field hockey team ended Syracuse's six-game conference win streak Sunday afternoon, topping the 20th-ranked Orangewomen 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Coyne Field on the campus of Syracuse University. With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-2 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the BIG EAST. The defending BIG EAST champion Orangewomen fall to 5-4/1-1 BIG EAST.
Boston College scored both its goals in the first half, four minutes apart. Just 12:39 into the game, Christy Zider (Barre, Vt.) gave the Eagles a 1-0 advantage when she scored from the left post off a rebound. Four minutes later, Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tallied her eighth goal of the season on a nice transition play. Zider passed the ball from the center of the circle out to French on her right. French safely deposited the ball to the far corner of the cage at the 16:07 mark.
BC goalkeeper Lauren Hill (Bethesda, Md.) made six saves en route to her BIG EAST-leading sixth shutout of the season.
Boston College will next travel to Rhode Island for a 3:00 game Wednesday afternoon.
