Field Hockey Shuts Out Vermont, 2-0

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The 13th-ranked Boston College field hockey team collected its fifth shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Vermont Saturday afternoon at Alumni Stadium on the campus of Boston College. With the win, the Eagles improve to 6-2 overall. The Catamounts fall to 2-5.
Boston College scored once in each half to take the 2-0 shutout win. With 9:09 on the clock in the first half, Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.) connected on a putback play in front of the goal. The 1-0 lead would stand through intermission and halfway through the second half.
In the second half, Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario) poked in an insurance goal for the Eagles. At the 18:49 mark, the sophomore scored on a broken penalty corner play. BC goalkeeper Lauren Hill (Bethesda, Md.) made two saves.
Boston College outshot Vermont, 15-5, and collected 16 corners to Vermont's four. In addition, BC defender Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.) collected the team's first defensive save of the season.
Boston College will remain at home for its next game, a 7:00 tilt against Providence on September 25 in the BIG EAST opener.
