College Park, Md. - The Boston College volleyball team fell just short at the Terrapin Invitational. After suffering tough loses in the first two rounds of play, the Eagles were defeated in a close match against Indiana University Saturday evening, 3-2. The Eagles will return to Chestnut Hill winless on the weekend, with an overall season record of 4-5.
Boston College came out strong in the first game, regrouping after a loss to tournament host Maryland earlier in the day, winning 30-28. The Eagles and Hoosiers then traded games, Indiana taking the second 30-28 and Boston College taking the third by the same score. Indiana dominated the fourth game, 30-18, forcing a tie breaking fifth game. Once again, the teams fought hard to another nail-biter, but Indiana captured the victory 15-13.
Sophomore setter Jessica Brizzolara earned all-tournament honors for her play over the weekend.
The Eagles will return to New England this week, to face Dartmouth on Sept. 18.
