Volleyball Drops First Match of Terrapin Invitational

College Park, Md. - The Boston College volleyball team was defeated by Loyola Marymount University (6-1) by a score of three games to none Friday afternoon at the Terrapin Invitational in College Park, Md. The first-round loss gives the Eagles a 4-3 record on the season.
Loyola Marymount never trailed in the match, topping BC by scores of 30-14, 30-22, and 30-22. The Lions dominated play at the net, recording nine blocks during the match and hitting at a .350 percentage. Triana Newsome of LMU had seven blocks.
The Eagles were led by senior Dara Blandino, who recorded nine kills.
Boston College will meet host Maryland at 11 a.m., in Saturday's second round of the two-day, round-robin tournament. The Eagles will then play Indiana at 5 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the Lions and Terrapins at 7.
