Boston College Victorious in First Day of Competition

CHARLESTON, S.C.-The Boston College began the 2002 season posting a 2-0 record today in the College of Charleston Tournament in Charleston, S.C. The team defeated Weber State, 3-2, in a thrilling first match. The Eagles returned to the court in the evening to beat Tennessee Tech, 3-0.
In the noon match, Boston College lost the first two games by identical scores of 27-30 but rallied to win the next three 30-19, 30-20 and 15-10 over the Weber State Wildcats. Rachel Bach amassed 22 kills and had a .488 hitting percentage. Sophomore Katie Andersen had 12 kills for the match.
The Eagles faced Tennessee Tech in the second match, overpowering them 30-27, 30-17 and 30-23. Bach had 13 kills and sophomore Dara Blandino contributed 11. Sophomore setter Jessica Brizzolara had 35 assists in the three games.
Boston College will face tournament host College of Charleston (1-1) at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon.
