Eagle Sendoff a Success

Chestnut Hill, Mass - The 2002 Boston College Volleyball team hosted its first annual "Eagle volleyball sendoff celebration" yesterday in Power Gymnasium. Well over one hundred fans attended the festivities to help kick-off the new season.
Several local high school teams gathered to show their support for BC. The Eagles put on a fast-paced, fun-filled exhibition, demonstrating skills and practice situations and concluding with an inter-squad scrimmage. The players were intense and focused amidst the exuberant atmosphere.
The Eagles are focused and ready to begin competition. Hey have been through three weeks of rigorous practice sessions under the direction of Head Coach Jackie Hadel and have really meshed as a team. This chemistry was obvious even from the stands. The Eagle faithful were entertained and learned a lot from the drills.
Fans also had the opportunity to win raffle prizes and meet the players. Overall, the atmosphere was very exciting, a great way to begin the season. Certainly, the celebration created an air of enthusiasm in anticipation of the upcoming 2002 campaign.
The team departs today for Charleston, S.C. where they will participate in the College of Charleston Tournament. Matches are scheduled for Friday, August 30 at noon against Weber State and at 5:00 versus Tennessee Tech. Saturday, August 31, the Eagles will face College of Charleston at 1:00.
