Boston College is ranked 18th in the NSCAA/adidas Division I Men's Soccer Preseason National Rankings. The poll, which was released on August 22, is compiled by a committee of coaches.
Indiana gained the top ranking in the poll. Boston College is joined in the poll by four other BIG EAST schools -- St. John's (third), Connecticut (sixth), Rutgers (seventh) and Syracuse (23rd). The Eagles will also face one other team in the preseason poll. BC will host 17th-ranked Penn State on Oct. 26.
Boston College, which finished with a 10-8-0 record last fall, begins its 2002 season on September 1 against St. John's at the Newton Campus Soccer Field. The match will begin at noon.
