BIG EAST Establishes Women's Golf Championship

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - BIG EAST Commissioner Michael Tranghese announced the addition of women's golf as the conference's 23rd sport. The addition was approved by the league's 14 Directors of Athletics.
Four teams will be selected for championship play from the six participating league schools: Boston College, Georgetown, Miami, Notre Dame, Rutgers, and St. John's. The teams will be selected by the BIG EAST Women's Golf Selection & Seeding Committee.
The championship event will take place on April 19-20, 2003 at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course, along with the men's event.
