Ron Rolston, who has served the last three years as assistant hockey coach at Harvard, has been named assistant hockey coach at Boston College, according to an announcement made by Boston College head hockey coach Jerry York.
Rolston will fill the coaching vacancy created when Scott Paluch left Boston College to assume the head coaching duties at his alma mater, Bowling Green State University.
Rolston was Harvard's top assistant coach from 1999-2002. In that position, he coordinated the team's recruiting effort, directed the penalty kill, worked with the defensemen and oversaw the players' strength and conditioning program.
Prior to joining the Harvard staff, Rolston spent three years at Clarkson (1996-99) and five years at Lake Superior State (1990-95). During his tenure to Clarkson, Rolston helped lead the Golden Knights to two ECAC regular-season titles and three NCAA Tournament berths.
At Lake Superior State, Rolston was a member of the coaching staff that guided the Lakers to five consecutive NCAA Tournament berths, including two national championships (1992 and 1994). Lake Superior State captured four CCHA Tournament titles in Rolston's five-year stint. Rolston served his first four years with the Lakers as assistant coach, before being elevated to associate head coach for the 1994-95 season.
A native of Fenton, Mich., Rolston is a 1990 graduate of Michigan Tech University. He was a three-year hockey lettermen (1986-89) with the Huskies, serving as an assistant captain in his senior season. Rolston was the co-recipient of the 1986-87 Norbert Matovich Memorial Award as Michigan Tech's Most Outstanding Freshman.
Rolston also has extensive experience with USA Hockey, having served as a coach at numerous national junior camps. He is the brother of Boston Bruins standout Brian Rolston.
