CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior attack Lauren Miller (Timonium, Md.) was selected to the 2002 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse North All-Region First Team, according to an announcement by the Regional All-American Committee.
Miller's selection marks the third time in the last two years a Boston College women's lacrosse player has earned Regional All-America honors. In 2001, Miller and Emily Ryan received regional recognition.
Miller led the conference and was tied for fourth in the nation in overall scoring with 76 points - on 41 goals and 35 assists. For the third straight season, she started every game adding 42 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers and 14 draw controls. In addition, she has the distinction as the only player in Division 1 women's lacrosse to register multiple double-digit point games this season, finishing with 10 points in wins over La Salle (Mar. 7) and Virginia Tech (Apr. 6). Her performance against Virginia Tech earned her BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honors. A four-year starter, she is BC's all-time leader in points (272), goals (144) and assists (128).
Miller was a unanimous 2002 BIG EAST All-Conference First Team selection. In 2001, she was named to the BIG EAST All-Conference First Team in addition to her First Team Regional All-America honors.
The Eagles finished the season 8-9 overall, 1-5 in the BIG EAST.
